Baal 1998

A block was issued on 15.06.1998 depicting a painting of the Canaanite god Baal, a bull and a Canaanite city.. It contains one stamp denominated at 600 Fils. The block was printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 14.
A FDC was issued, bearing a special postmark dated 15.06.1998.

Archaelogy 1998

Palestine issued a stamp series on 22.06.1998 depicting scenes from a 6th century floor mosaic in the Byzantine church of St. Hilarion's monastery (Tel Umm el-'Amr, near Jabalia). The four stamps are denominated at 50, 125, 200, and 400 Fils and were printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin in sheets of 10. Total value: 775 Fils. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 13.75.
An official FDC was issued with a special first day postmark dated 22.06.1998.

Medicinal Plants 1998

On 30.09.1998 a stamp series depicting medicinal plants native to Palestine was issued. The plants shown are:
  •   sea quill (Drimia maritima, Urginea maritima)
  •   mediterranean milk thistle (Silybum marianum)
  •   fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
  •   yellow fleabane (Inula viscosa, Dittrichia viscosa)
The four stamps are denominated at 40, 80, 500, and 800 Fils and were printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin in sheets of 10 (5x2). Total value: 1420 Fils. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 14.
An official FDC bearing a special cancellation mark dated 30.09.1998 was also issued.

Admission to the United Nations 1998

A block was issued on 12.11.1998 commemorating the admission of Palestine to the United Nations (referring to the broading of rights of the observer status of Palestine according to resolution A/RES/52/250 of 7.07.1998). It contains one stamp denominated at 700 Fils. The block was printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 14.
A FDC was issued, bearing a special postmark dated 12.11.1998.

Birds of Prey 1998

On 12.11.1998 a stamp series depicting birds of prey native to Palestine was issued. The birds shown are:
  •   Bonelli's Eagle (Aquila fasciata)
  •   Hobby or Sooty Falcon (Hypotriorchis or Falco concolor)
  •   Verreaux's Eagle (Aquila verreauxii)
  •   Bateleur (Terathopius ecaudatus)
  •   Buzzard (Buteo buteo).
The five stamps are denominated at 20, 60, 340, 600, and 900 Fils and were printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin in sheets of 10 (5x2). Total value: 1,920 Fils. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 13.75
Two official FDCs, one with stamps Zobbel nos. 91–93, the other with Zobbel nos. 94–95, were issued, both bearing the special cancellation mark dated 12.11.1998.

Wonderful World Of Butterflies 1998

A block was issued on 3.12.1998 under the title "Wonderful World Of Butterflies" depicting four butterflies native to Palestine:
  •   Southern Swallowtail (Papilio alexanor)
  •   Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus)
  •   Cleopatra (Gonepteryx cleopatra taurica)
  •   Levantine Marbled White (Melanargia titea)
The block contains the four stamps (100, 200, 300, and 400 Fils) printed se-tenant in this order: Zobbel no. 96 / 97 // 98 / 99). The block (total value: 1,000 Fils) was printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 14.
One official FDC was issued, bearing a special postmark dated 3.12.1998.

This block is reported with changes in colour saturation incidental to the printing process. The illustrations shown below (scanned in one go) were selected from a run of 100 blocks (one whole package) to show the two extreme ends of the variations found. The variation is markedly less visible than with the 1996 Elections block.

Christmas 1998: Bethlehem 2000

The 1998 Christmas block was issued on 3.12.1998 commemorating also the start of the "Bethlehem 2000" projects. "Bethelehem 2000" refers to a broader campaign to prepare for the 2000th anniversary celebrations, but also to the specific UN and World Bank development projects (see links below). The block contains one stamp denominated at 1,000 Fils and was printed by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin. Print run: unknown. Perforation: K 13.75.
An official FDC (sized 256x176mm) was issued, bearing a special postmark dated 3.12.1998.
